There is a "tracehelper" folder in the EPG folder mentioned above that shows you detailed logging in XML format. renamed the offending registry key, restarted Media centre and all went through OK. The System Error Codes are very broad. In Media Center, choose Settings, then TV, then Guide, then Set Up Guide Listings.
