- I use Norton Antivirus 360, have gone into it and cant see where to turn the setting off.

I actioned this by using Tools / Accounts / in your mail account , use 'Properties' / click the 'Servers' Tab/ at the bottom, tick 'My Server requires authentification' This resolved As a test, try to telnet over port 25 to smtp.talktalk.net.
