Windows Installer Error 14007
I had this problem, only my msiexec.exe was missing entirely from the System32 directory. Running the following commands solved the issue: %systemroot%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregserver %systemroot%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver Tastes: Windows XP Posted by RikardStrand at 18:28 9 comments: Theles said... I wonder if ever since my installer stopped working, has any security updates really been installing, or is it just wasting my time telling me "installing updates... After I stopped and started the local server, I was able to start the window installer services and then install all my software. I can happily remove this program, I dont use it now anyway.With that information, would you still advise me using this machine to continue diagnosis on and remove Sophos from this or file got corrupt or services not work? I've explored many possibilities and tried a few things of my own and nothing has solved the issue yet.

Check if the startup type of the Installer Service is set to Manual 5. It's easy! you will still receive the error message, but iTunes downloaded anyway!

I have no clue how, but maybe my virus protection flagged and a relative (not to be named here) removed it..

Had similar issue with a client running Windows XP SP2 and pretty much worked through suggestions here to no avail. I tried to install the game again, and the same blue screen appeared.
